I am a mathematics PhD student at Montana State University, advised by Dr. Sam Gunningham. My research interests exist in the realm of quantum topology: knot theory, skein theory, and low-dimensional manifold invariants. Before graduate school, I studied mathematics education at the University of Oklahoma, and I remain quite interested in the theory of teaching and learning, particularly in questions about effective assessment.
Outside of math, I am a big baseball fan (Boomer Sooner!) and for the past 8 summers, I have been a coach for the Gallatin Valley Outlaws and Posse, American Legion Baseball teams in Three Forks, MT. I love to spend time outdoors, travel (so far I have visited 37/50 US states), and play all sorts of trivia games. I enjoy many hands-on creative endeavors, including tinkering with cars and motorcycles, woodworking, painting, and photography.
